ANNFIELD FARM

Annfield Farm are an Angora goat farm based in Fife.  They are one of a handful of British farms producing mohair yarn and they now have a herd of nearly 70 goats.  As they keep the goats exclusively for their fibre they are able to be a no kill flock and keep their goats until the end of their natural lives.  As a small flock they only produce limited quantities of yarn every year, so they mix their mohair with locally produced Shetland fleeces to make their unique yarn blend which is spun in Yorkshire.  Returning to the farm in it’s natural white unbleached colour, they then hand dye everything in their kitchen using British made dyes.  Annfield Farm try and do everything they can to limit their carbon footprint and use products and services local to them where possible.

I design knitting and crochet patterns & kits with themes such as Sanquhar knitting, Wild Red Kites, Belted Galloway and Highland Cows, Black Faced Sheep, etc…)  I also hand dye embroidery threads and design embroidery kits with a modern, quirky slant that is based upon historical Blackwork and cross-stitch techniques.

WESTFIELD CROFT

Life’s journey brought Marguerite and Frank to rural Aberdeenshire in 2015.  Wool is a cornerstone of their sustainable craft business with a small breeding flock of rare breed Boreray and Icelandic sheep.  Seeing the sheep being shorn, Marguerite wanted to use the beautiful raw fleece to produce yarns and rugs that reflect the depth of variation of the sheep’s fleece.  Westfield Croft’s yarns are spun from carefully selected fleeces, from their own flock and from neighbouring farms and smallholders.  All the fleeces have clear Scottish provenance, spinning is outsourced to hand spinners or mills to produce 100% natural fibre wool or alpaca yarns.

Frank and Marguerite have also rejuvenated willow and hazel coppices on their land and annually harvest rods for making baskets and willow structures.  Frank’s baskets are beautiful and functional, each one unique and made to last.
