Description
As a child Jeanette was always drawing, stitching or doing something creative and her Mum taught her to hand knit at the age of 7. Her fascination with yarn, texture and colour led her to study for a degree in textile design where Jeanette specialised in hand and machine knitting, learning to crochet, bead and embroider along the academic journey. She will also be presenting our keynote lecture in 2019!

If you’ve mastered knit and purl and fancy adding something a little different to your knitting you’ll love exploring this technique. Using simple knit and purl you’ll be introduced to dipped stitches that can be used to create exciting surface textures and dense, squishy fabrics.
In this class students will:
- Learn to read dipped stitch charts
- Create swatches with dipped stitches
- Learn to create your own dipped stitches
Materials
One pair of 4.00 mm needles single points or circulars (whichever you prefer for working in rows), 2 x 50g balls of solid colour DK weight wool or wool mix yarns in contrasting colours, small amounts of solid colour fingering weight wool or wool mix yarn for contrast – part balls will do fine, small scissors, notebook and pen.
Note:The bounciness of wool or wool mix fibres works particularly well with this technique but bring along your preferred fibre in either weight.
